David Burleigh takes an inter-disciplinary approach to the world of family enterprise governance and succession. He helps multi-generational families, especially where there are a large number of children, to create and use decision-making structures that fit them. He deals with operating companies, family investment entities, family legacy assets, private foundations, and other such entities that depend on decision-making among family members to function effectively.
Though he is not a professional mediator, he is highly regarded for having a mediative effect on tense family situations. David entered the field of family enterprise advising after a number of years in the private client legal area. During that time he created a consulting business in the area of private foundations and charitable giving.
Before Family Enterprise Office, David worked with Amelia Renkert-Thomas under a large, international family business and family office consultancy. His articles have appeared in Trusts & Estates and Estate Planning magazines. David holds a B.A. from DePauw University, an M.A. from the University of Dallas, and a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati.
